Manage license

You can check the license status, install and uninstall license using the Gnostice License Manager Visual Studio extension. Invoke the extension by choosing Tools > Gnostice License Manager > Manage Gnostice Document Studio .NET License. The extension shows the following dialog, which allows you to manage the license on your machine.

Here is a brief explanation of each item in the dialog:

License Key: Allows you to type in the license key supplied to you after purchasing the product.

Install button: Use this button to install a new license key

License Status: Displays the current license status. If a valid license is installed, it also shows the end date for support and free product updates.

Computer Name: Displays the name of the computer on which the license was installed. The installed license is tied to the computer on which it was originally installed.

Product Edition: If a valid license is installed, it displays the edition of the licensed product.

Load License button: Use this button to load a previously saved license file.

Save License button: Use this button to save a copy of the license for backup.

Uninstall License button: Use this button to uninstall the license from this machine. This is useful for moving a license from one machine to another.

 

When you attempt to install or uninstall a license the license manager connects to the Gnostice license server to complete the operation. Therefore, public internet access is required on the machine you wish to install/uninstall the license.

Install License

To install a license enter the license key supplied to you when you purchased the product and click the "Install" button. If the license key is valid and the number of activations hasn't exceed the limit, then the license is installed on the machine. If for some reason the Gnostice license server is unreachable, then you can follow the steps listed in the failure message box to perform an offline activation.

Uninstall License

If you wish to move a license from one machine to another, then you need to first uninstall the license from the machine where the license is installed. Thereafter you can reinstall it on the new machine. Please note that you can do this only a limited number of times. If you exceed this limit you will need to contact support for performing the move.
