Adding Text Labels, Shapes, and Hyperlinks When Printing To PDF

And learn about the new object inspector in the Preview/Designer window.
By Suresh

The Preview/Designer window of Print2eDoc allows you to add text labels, shapes, form fields, and annotations when you print to PDF.

In the latest version of Print2eDoc, the old floating "Properties" dialog was replaced with an interface that is permanently docked on the window.

In this article, we will see how to add labels, shapes, and links to the output PDF document using the new interface.

Adding a Text Label

Let us assume that the Preview/Designer window is already open.

  1. Click on Label icon on the left and draw a new label on the previewed PDF page. A Properties object inspector box for the label will be displayed on the left.
  2. In the Properties box, click on Caption under Text and enter the text that needs to be displayed by the label. The label will be automatically resized to accommodate the text you have entered.
  3. Click the Apply & Continue button to generate the output document.

Adding a Link to a Label

We assume that the Preview/Designer window is already open and a label has been added to a previewed PDF page.

  1. Select the label.
  2. In the Properties box, click on InsertLinkAnnotation under Link Annotation and set to True.
  3. Click on ActionType under Link Annotation and set it to LinkToURI.
  4. Click on URI under Link to URI Properties and enter an URI. For a website link, enter an http address (say http://www.gnostice.com/test.asp). For an email link, enter a mailto address (say mailto:test@gnostice.com).
  5. Click the Apply & Continue button to generate the output document.

Adding a link to a shape can be done in a similar manner. Just select the shape instead of the label and follow the steps mentioned above.
