How To Add Print2eDoc Macros To Microsoft Excel

Here is a VBA macro that will convert your worksheet at the click of a toolbar button.

Print2eDoc SDK allows you to programmatically to convert documents. And, because it is a COM component, you can also use it with applications that support VBA (Visual Basic for Applications).

In this article, we will try to add VB macros to your Excel workbooks that will allow you to convert worksheets at the click of a button, without any prompts or other cumbersome interactivity. Here are the steps:

• Open Microsoft Excel.
• Select Tools » Macros » Macros....
• Type a name for the macro, say, P2E_With_BestQuality and click on Create. The Microsoft Visual Basic editor will open with subroutine stub with macro name that was provided.
• Copy the following code inside the stub:

  ' Create Print2eDoc printer object
  Dim PrinterObj As gtPrint2eDoc
  Set PrinterObj = _
    CreateObject("Print2eDocSDK.gtPrint2eDoc")
  
  ' Activate license
  PrinterObj.ActivateLicense "Your Print2eDoc key"
   
  ' Specify output settings
  PrinterObj.UseCustomDocumentName = False
  PrinterObj.DefaultOutputDirectory = "C:\"
  PrinterObj.OutputDocumentFormat = PDF
  
  'Disable GUI prompts
  PrinterObj.ShowPreview = False
  PrinterObj.ShowSaveDialog = False
  PrinterObj.ShowSettingsDialog = False
  
  PrinterObj.ViewGeneratedDocuments = True
  
  ' Overwrite file if it already exists
  PrinterObj.FileExistsOption = feReplaceDirectly
  
  ' Specify the document creation profile
  PrinterObj.SelectCurrentProfile ("[PDF - Best Quality]")
  
  ' Set Print2eDoc printer as current printer
  PrinterObj.SetAsDefaultPrinter
  PrinterObj.Update
  
  ' Specify that current worksheet needs to be converted
  PrinterObj.OfficeAddinSettings.ExcelPrintOption = _
     poActiveWorkSheet
  
  ' Convert worksheet from current workbook
  PrinterObj.PrintExcelDocument ( _
     Application.ActiveWorkbook.FullName)
  
  ' Restore original default printer
  PrinterObj.RestoreDefaultPrinter
  
  Set PrinterObj = Nothing
  

  Your macro is now ready.
• Right-click existing toolbars and click Customize....
• Select Command tab and click on Macros option.
• Drag and drop Custom Button option to an existing toolbar.
• Right-click the new button and select Assign Macro.
• Select P2E_With_BestQuality macro and click OK.

After this, you can convert your worksheet simply by clicking this button with the [PDF - Best Quality] profile. You can create other macros for conversion with other profiles and settings.
